IULI Commemorates World Food Safety Day 2026 with Webinar on FSSC 22000 Version 7 and Food Sustainability

Promoting greater awareness and competence in food safety through an understanding of FSSC 22000 Version 7 and sustainability practices that meet industry needs.

Tangerang, June 5, 2026 – In celebration of World Food Safety Day on June 7, the Universitas Lintas Internasional Indonesia (IULI), in collaboration with INAVIGA Indonesia, Saff Suprima Utama, and Nutri Cendekia Nusantara, organized a webinar entitled "Advancing Food Safety Excellence: Update on FSSC 22000 Version 7 and Sustainability in the Food Industry" on June 5, 2026.

The webinar featured Dr. Hendry Noer Fadlillah, Lecturer of Food Technology at IULI, and Ir. Gilang A. Putra, Food Safety Trainer at Saff Suprima Utama, as speakers. The session was moderated by Dr. S.M. Bakti Pertiwi and attracted more than 100 participants from various sectors, including industry professionals, researchers, government representatives, academics, and students.

During the webinar, Dr. Hendry emphasized that food safety and food sustainability are closely interconnected and mutually reinforcing. A robust food safety management system serves as a fundamental cornerstone for achieving a sustainable food system.

The implementation of an effective food safety system contributes to sustainability in several ways:

  1. Reducing Food Loss and Waste: Effective food safety systems help prevent contamination and extend product shelf life, reducing rejected products and product recalls, which are major contributors to food waste.

  2. Improving Resource Efficiency: By minimizing product failures, food industries can optimize the use of energy, water, and raw materials throughout the production process.

  3. Reducing Carbon Emissions: Lower levels of food waste help decrease global greenhouse gas emissions, considering that food waste accounts for approximately 8–10% of total global emissions.
